PR SPECIALIST & WORDSMITH

Alan Page in the Derbyshire Peak District is a hugely experienced PR consultant, business writer and strategic marketer ... now retired. Alan has remained busy, as media relations manager for a professional football club, and, until recently, managing editor of a regional magazine. He is also available for selective one-off projects.

Seasoned communicator Alan Page was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. At school, he compiled a weekly newspaper. Fast forward and Alan was an undergraduate intern on the bustling business desk of a national daily in London's Fleet Street.

+ Journalism & Agencies
An English language scholar with a teaching qualification, Alan’s main early career unfurled into freelance journalism and copywriting. This ability to apply well-versed writing across the editorial and advertising divide is a rarity. He covered business and sport for the media and provided publicity services in football. He honed ads and promo copy for top creative agencies and their premium clients. A spell as a print industry marketing director followed and he picked up a graphic design diploma.

+ PR Management
Alan entered public relations management in the mid-1970s to lead an accomplished young PR and advertising consultancy crew in the north-east, catering for clients in chemicals, construction, electronics, sport and the public sector. The next move was south to run the busy PR department at a leading business-to-business marketing services agency near London, soon becoming a director of the company and adding its corporate communications subsidiary to his management remit.

+ International
In 1990 Alan and a former employee founded an international public relations, advertising and marketing group, to operate from the Isle of Man and Windsor, west of London. Alan was chairman and chief executive for nearly two decades, heading up around 20 creative and support staff. Specialisms centred on marine, electronics, finance and leisure, working with multinational market leaders.

+ Freelance
Having taken early retirement, Alan started freelance as Alan Page Media Matters in 2010. Clients included one of the country's top accountancy practices and a specialist engineering group, plus marketing sector agencies in London, Greater Manchester and the East Midlands. He retired for the second time in 2020.

Alan became a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists and Chartered Institute of Public Relations early in his career and belongs to ProCopywriters, the alliance of UK commercial writers.
